We support sustainable, responsible & ethical tourism.

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
- Mark Twain

Adventure Travel Specialists

Apus Peru Adventure Travel Specialists were founded in 2005 with the aim of providing visitors the opportunity to get off the beaten track and into the real Peru.
A Peruvian/Australian partnership, Apus Peru Adventure Travel Specialists are relatively new on the Cusqueño tourism scene, but this brings a freshness and new attitude to our offering.

Well before Apus Peru was considered (as a business), a passion for adventure and a love of getting outdoors meant that over the years we headed out of Cusco at every opportunity. Hiking and trekking is what we do in our spare time.

We first hiked these routes in the spirit of discovery – and we wanted to encapsulate this spirit in our tours, so you too can feel the thrill of breaking new ground.

Our slogan "explore places no one else goes" encapsulates our desire to offer tours that take you away from the highly touristed routes.

Commercial realities mean that we have gone from offering only unique, custom designed tours, to some of the more traditional treks and tours, like the Classic Inca Trail and Sacred Valley tours.

From the very first treks, we wanted to “give something back” and began by donating a portion of trek prices to local NGOs, later supporting the foundation of the Peruvian NGO Threads of Peru.

Given the amount of exploitation that occurs in the Peruvian tourism industry, we were also determined that we would not be a part of this.  Since inception, we have tried to pay above industry rates to our workers, and consider the sustainability implications of our actions.  To ensure that we were indeed “walking the talk” we applied to be verified by the internationally renowned Rainforest Alliance in 2011.
We continue to be travellers, and we continue to strive to offer our clients unique, personalized itineraries that we would like to do ourselves.

Apus Peru is registered with the Municipality of Cusco (005857) and DIRCETUR (Dept of Tourism) (307-2008-GR CUSCO/DIRCETUR).
