As part of our commitment to responsible tourism we contribute 5% of the price of each trek to local communities. We hold this amount "in trust" until we have a substantial sum that can be used to make a real difference to a community. Our current projects Chaullacocha bilingual education project Revitalising weaving traditions project We are also investigating ways to incorporate a 'community activity' in each tour - of perhaps one day - so that international visitors can positively contribute to the communities rather than merely passing through them. You can currently actively participate in the Chaullacocha bilingual education project by going on the Lares to Machu Picchu trek. "Every
person must decide whether he will walk in the light of creative altruism
or the darkness of destructive selfishness. This is the judgment. Life's
most persistent and urgent question is, What are you doing for others?" By doing a trek with Apus Peru you will know that a portion of your trek price is going to Peruvian communities. You will be helping to create real change in Peru by helping communities to help themselves.
