High Andes Adventure
17 days/ 16 nights

For hiking enthusiasts this tour features two hikes, one in the Colca Canyon and another in the high andes for Peru. This is for the fit and enthusiatic who wish to fit in as much as possible into their Peru visit.

Day One - Lima

Arrival in Lima, transfer to your hotel. You have the afternoon free to explore the capital. Accommodation: Hotel Lima

Day Three - Arequipa
You will take an early morning flight to Arequipa, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Arequipa is known as the "White city" due to the many buildings constructed using the white sillar stone. You have the day free (unless a City Tour is requested). We highly recommend a visit to the Santa Catalina Convent (the most impressive religious building in all Peru) which dates back to 1580 and also to the Ice Maiden Museum. The Plaza de Armas of Arequipa is also very beautiful.

Days Four - Seven Colca Canyon Hike
On Day four we will depart Arequipa early (about 6am) for a 5 hour bus ride to Cabanaconde, over the high altiplano. After lunch in Cabanaconde we will begin our hike, descending to San Juan de Chujcho (time 3.30 to 4 hours). We will camp in San Juan of Chujcho.
On day five we will walk for three hours to the Oasis of Sangalle - about 3 hours walking. We will enjoy the afternoon, swimming in the Oasis, fishing in the Colca river. We will camp and Sangalle.

On day six we will begin the long climb from Sangalle to Cabanaconde around 5am. (about 4 hours climbing) We will then have breakfast in Cabanaconde. From here we will Visit the lookout Cruz del Condor where we can observe the flight of the condors. Upon arrival in Chivay we will have lunch and in the afternoon we will take a bus back to Arequipa, arriving around 9pm

Day Eight - Lake Titicaca
Flight to Puno departs 7.25am, arrives Juliaca 8.35am. Transfer to Puno

Direct transfer to a Lake Titicaca tour. We will take a boat to the amazing floating islands of Uros and stay the night with a native family on Amantani Island. Each visitor is billeted with a local family, who offer typical food and very basic lodgings.
Accommodation: Homestay Lake Titicaca

Day nine - Lake Titicaca & Puno
After breakfast we say goodbye to our host families and take a one hour boat trip to the lovely island of Taquile. We have the opportunity to observe the famous Taquile weavers at work and their typical clothing. We and arrive back in Puno at approximately 5 pm. Accommodation: Hotel Puno

Day ten - Travel to Cusco
Today we will either take a deluxe bus or the Peru Rail train from Puno to Cusco passing through spectacular high altiplano landscape.
Our preference is to take the train but it only runs on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. Accommodation: Hotel Cusco

Day eleven
Depending on your interests, you can take one of the following tours:

White water action: Rafting trip on Urubamba River.
Downhill mountain biking and culture: Chaywatiri 'weaving and farming' by bike
Hiking and culture: shapes of the past
Classic Sacred Valley tour: Visit Pisac, Urubamba, Ollantaytambo and Chincheros.
Relax: you will enjoy the restaurants and shopping of the Inca capital, Cusco
Accommodation, Hotel Cusco

Day twelve - fifteen
You will depart on one of our highly recommended, off the beaten track four day treks that spend the fourth day in Machu Picchu

Suggestions are:
Ancascocha Trek
Lares and Machu Picchu, including a visit to the community of Chaullacocha
Tropical Inca Trail
Expreso Salkantay

On the fourth day of the tour you will have a guided visit of the lost city of the Incas, Machu Picchu and can appreciate the sunrise from the Inti Punku (the sun gate.) (Weather permitting). We return to Cusco in the afternoon by the backpacker train, arriving around 8pm. Accommodation: Hotel, Cusco

Day sixteen - Cusco
Relax and enjoy Cusco, do some last minute shopping

Accommodation: Hotel Cusco

Day seventeen - return to Lima
We can schedule your flight so you can make a connection to your international flight (make sure you have 3 hours in Lima airport between your arrival from Cusco and departure on your international flight) .

If you are unable to make a connection will can organise your transfer to an inner city hotel and back to the airport in the morning. (extra cost)
