trip description - please note this is a HALF DAY trip.

The area around Cusco is an undiscovered treasure trove of Inca ruins, and the Cachimayo River Valley is a perfect example. Though we take an urban taxi to our take off point, we are quickly engrossed in rural Peru with traditionally dressed people working their fields on the steep valley sides. We hike up to the interesting ruins of Inca Carcel (Inca Prison) where the Incas carved many fascinating niches and caves. We then continue onto the ruins of K'alla cancha which have some very fine stonework as well as spectacular views of Cusco.

We return to Cusco, having been in rural Peru for several hours - what is so remarkable is that these fine ruins and traditional way of life can be found just over a ridge the buzzing Cusco city.

Please note, we won't say that this trip is litter free, its close proximity to Cusco means that there is a lot of dumping of rubbish, especially in the first fifteen minutes of the hike.

Our Inca Fortresses tour is perfectly combined with one of our Cultural Extensions - Chicha & Sapo!
