Full itinerary - Lares by bike 2 days Day
1 After you have had breakfast, we will collect you from your hotel
early in the morning and we will then drive over to the Sacred Valley
where we will have a short break and opportunity to have a snack in the
traditional village of Calca before heading uphill towards the interesting
Inca ruins of Ancasmarca with views of the surrounding valley. Just after
the Abra de Lares Abra of Lares (Lares Pass (4400m))., will we get out
of the vehicle and get fitted up for our downhill mountain descent to
the town of Lares (3200m). Two routes are available making it suitable
for all levels of experience. We pass through alpaca pastures and typical
Andean villages and past waterfalls and have a boxed lunch in route, at
an appropriate time. Day 2 After breakfast we will get on our bikes again and head back into Lares, which, with its few streets can only be described as picturesque! A 2 hour downhill ride towards the jungle brings us to the foot of a small steep path, climbing up to the friendly village of Choquecancha (3200m). Local weavers offer beautiful hand made weavings, while the main square is lined by an impressive 14 niched inca wall. Our private transport will then collect us and return back to the Sacred valley over the Lares Pass. If you are so inclined, and there is time, we can stop for another soak in Hot Springs, this time at Matacancha. From here we return to Cusco, a drive of about 1-2 hours.
