24 dec 2009 report 1/ report 2/

Custom designed 12 day itinerary - Cusco and surroundings, Maray-Salineras, Ollantaytambo, Pisac, biking, Lares 3 day and 2 days in Machu Picchu.

How would you rate your overall enjoyment of your trip? 9

How would you rate your guide? 9

Felix and Herbert were both excellent guides, with a lot of knowledge and appreciation of the Inca/Indian cultures. Herbert was both encouraging and patient when Chris was sick on the first day of the trip and Jay and Bob were sick on the last day. The mix of activities and visiting Inca sites/ruins was great, and your willingness to adapt to our requests in designing the trip was really super. The day trips, biking were all a lot of fun. We were happy to have the extra day at Machu Picchu (expensive as it was), as we not only had a lot of time in the ruins but were able to climb Huayna Picchu, and hike to the Sun Gate and the Inca Bridge.

How were your meals? 8

This route and tour was a great mix for us.
Chris and the boys commented on the trek. The extreme poverty of the rural areas on the trek was striking, and a real learning experience for our kids (and a reminder for Chris and I).

What was the highlight of your trip? Too many to choose just one.

Any other comments?
Though we barely made it (Herbert ran ahead to hold the train for us), it was really nice to be on the train during the day, and the Vistadome on the way in was really nice (for the view). Backpacker on the way back to Cusco was fine.
The Rumi Punku in Cusco is a very nice hotel with very friendly and helpful staff, a beautiful courtyard, comfortable beds, nice breakfast and good hot water. La Cabana in Aguas was also very nice - similar comments about services, though not as beautiful a setting. Thanks for putting together a wonderful trip for us.

\/td>Feedback:

" First, we wanted to say how much we enjoyed the time in Peru, the arrangements you made for us, and the guidance provided by both Felix and Herbert. Each day was more amazing than the last. We came away with a great admiration for Peru, its cultures past and present, and its artistic and courageous people. So, many thanks for all you did to make it happen!

Second, a proposal that is connected to all those impressions. We would like to find a more sustained way to support the work of the weavers, like those we met on the Lares Valley trek and have been talking about ways to do do that.

The main point would be to increase somewhat the recompense for the women doing such beautiful work in such hard conditions. My thought would be to focus on just the few villages around Lares, so perhaps there might be a cumulative effect of a little more money coming into them." Hussan family, USA
