highlight: Your destination, Puncuyoc, is a spectacular and well preserved Inca site that undoubtably was of great ceremonial importance to the last of the Incas who fled from the Spanish to the Vilcabamba region.

description: Puncuyoc is located in rugged and inhospitable terrain and it feels about as far from civilisation as you can possibly get. At 3,954 metres, perched between two stupendous, inaccessible cliffs the Inca Huasi, the principal ruin, demonstrates the incredible skill and mythology of the Incas. Your journey to Puncuyoc takes you through spectacular scenery as the Andes drop down to the jungle... travelling by public bus or truck you will feel like you are venturing into unknown territory.
