Treks Ending at Machu Picchu
The Classic Inca Trail is the most famous of treks that end at the ancient citadel of Machu Picchu.
Many of our alternative hikes finish in this fascinating lost city - but provide a more indepth and adventurous perspective than the classic Inca Trail. These include:
Back door to Machu Picchu (non hiking) 3 days/2 nights
Tropical Inca Trail more commonly known as Inca Jungle trail 4 days/3 nights
Four Angles of Machu Picchu - a very special hike for the reflective visitor who wants to truly explore Machu Picchu's near ruins and area.
Crossing the Cordillera Vilcabamba 6 days/4 nights
Great Ruins & Real Adventure 9 days/ 8 nights (can be done in 8 days for the very fit)
Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu 5 days/4 nights (now government regulated and quite touristed.) Apus Peru amongst the few operators that offers a shorter, but tougher version, the Expreso Salkantay, 4 days.
The Lares Trek does NOT finish in Machu Picchu - that is, you cannot walk to the ruins. However, as many companies offer the Lares Trek combined with a Machu Picchu extension, we are now offering this service - see Lares and Machu Picchu trek (4 days).
