Apus Peru offer you the chance participate in the Chichubamba Agrotourism project – this is an excellent way to learn more about the locals way of life and Peruvian customs. The workshops are presented by locals who have received training in presentations and are experts in their field.

Highlight:learning more about agricultural methods in the Sacred Valley of the Incas!

Location: Located in the Heart of the Sacred Valley, Chichubamba, is to the outskirts of the city Urubamba about 20 minutes of Ollantaytambo and 30 of Pisac.

Duration: About 5 hours, or half a day. Can be combined with our other day trips

Level: Easy (no real hiking involved).

Adventure Rating: Off the beaten track, few poeple have the chance to glimpse into the rural life of the Sacred Valley.

Departure Dates: any day with two people. We offer affordably priced tours for 2 people so that you can depart when it suits you best. .

Combos & Upgrades: Combine with one of our treks for a complete Cusco experience, and get a discount off your trek price. Excellent for pre trek acclimatization or combined with other one day treks in the wet season.

Cost of the morning plus lunch is paid directly to the cooperative.

Suggested program

8am depart Cusco.

10am arrive Urubamba. Participate in 3 workshops, approx. 1 hour each workshop.

1pm lunch in a local family´s home.

2.30pm depart Urubamba for transfer to Ollantaytambo (train to Machu Picchu) or to Pisaq.

You can choose 3 of the following workshops.

  • Ceramics

  • Chocolate making

  • Chicha (typical maize drink) preparation

  • Bee keeping

  • Flower growing

  • Weaving

  • Coffee processing

  • Guinea pig raising

After your three different presentations, that take about 1 hour each, you will have lunch in the home of one of the locals.
