Weaving and Farming- Full itinerary and inclusions
...........................................................................................................................................................
We depart Cusco early, in our private transport and travel to the Sacred Valley and the village of Pisaq, famous for its ruins and a lively market. We will spent a short time looking . around this fascinating market before continuing high up in the hills above the Pisac ruins, and far away from the tourist trail.
In Chawaytiri village there are people in the fields and in the village set up with their looms and they will be only too happy to explain the meaning of their weavings and their use of natural products to make dyes. Inevitably, a group of villagers will gather with their weavings and you will have the opportunity to buy some of these spectacularly woven items. The quality of the products offered is superb, so you cannot expect to get a "bargain" though you will meet the person who made your souvenir! We continue from the village uphill to visit some pre-Inca rock drawings before having lunch by the river. We then hike downhill by a different route for about 1.5 hours and take our private transport back to Pisaq ruins, where we will have a guided tour and some time to explore a little. Our private car will stop at Awanacancha along the way if there is time.
Weaving and Farming by Bicycle option!
Your private transport picks you up at your hotel and takes you to Pisac where there is a lively market which you can wander around. We will then take private transport to the Abra (Pass) high up in the mountains above Chaywatiri. We will stop to see some pre-Inca rock drawings before heading to the village of Chaywatiri where the locals will show us their weaving techniques.
From here we will mountain bike downhill through typical Sacred Valley farmland before arriving at Pisac Ruins in the mid afternoon. Here, we will have a guided tour and some time to explore a little. Our private car will stop at Awanacancha along the way if there is time. The private car will acompany us all along the route and take tired bicycle riders!
