Peru Honeymoon - Full Itinerary

Day 1: Lima Arrival

Your amazing Peru honeymoon begins with your arrival at the Jorge Chavez International Airport; we will meet your flight and transfer you to your hotel, where you can relax and enjoy the evening.
In Lima, our hotel of choice is the very special Hotel B, the first arts-boutique hotel in Lima, with 17 unique suites and a signature restaurant by Oscar Velarde. It's in the Bohemian neighborhood of Barranco, which features a range of nooks and secret places for lovers to discover. Don't forget to check out the Puente de Suspiros (Bridge of Sighs). This bridge has a romantic story attached to it about a wealthy young girl who lived on the Bajada de los Baños, just below the bridge. She fell in love with a lowly street cleaner. When her father would not permit the union, the young girl pined for her beloved, keeping a vigil for him at her window for all of her remaining days. Legend has it that on certain foggy nights, one can still hear her sighs while lingering on the bridge.

Overnight: Hotel B

http://hotelb.pe/

A unique luxury boutique hotel in Lima in an elegant turn of the century mansion, this lovingly restored property features exquisite attention to detail in every room. Hotel B boasts an enclosed central patio, private rooftop lounge, and extraordinarily comfortable beds with luxury down pillows and comforters. A charming and romantic hotel for the first nights of your Peru honeymoon.

Day 2: Lima Half Day City Tour

A tour of the historical city of Lima, Peru's capital, is a wonderful way to start your Peru honeymoon.
We'll start with a half day tour of Lima, beginning with a panoramic view of the "Pucllana Pyramid" a magnificent ceremonial and archeological center built in the 4th Century A.D., considered by the Incas to be a sacred site. We'll continue with a visit to the Historic Center of Lima, stopping to see its palaces, mansions, churches, plazas, and the spooky catacombs of the San Francisco Monastery. Next, we'll tour the most traditional residential areas of Lima, including El Olivar de San Isidro.
Of special note is the 'Parque del Amor,' the Miraflores "Park of Love," which has a great view of the Pacific Ocean and a series of statues with poetic inscriptions dedicated to love. A fitting place for a couple to visit on their honeymoon! After the tour, we will continue with one of the optional activities below.

** Optional tours for the afternoon: Circuito Mágico de Agua (Magic Water Circuit) Larco Herrera Museum
Return to your hotel. Lima is a marvel of culinary adventure, with world-class restaurants that offer romantic dining experiences to delight the senses of both you and your loved one.
We will pick you up at your hotel for your evening meal, which will take place at the romantically named, "La Rosa Nautica" (The Nautical Rose) restaurant. With its beautiful wooden pier jutting out over the ocean, this is a lovely place to enjoy a pisco sour and watch the sunset on this, the second evening of your Peru honeymoon! La Rosa Nautica is a Lima institution and one of our personal favorites as a romantic place to dine. After dinner, we will return you to your hotel.

Overnight: Hotel B

Day 3: Lima - Cusco

We will pick you up at your hotel and transfer you to the airport for your 1.10-hour flight to Cusco. Upon landing, you will be transferred to your Cusco hotel to relax and enjoy the rest of the evening.

Overnight: Casa Cartagena

http://www.casacartagena.com/

The hotel is located in a beautifully renovated Spanish colonial house surrounding a romantic courtyard- it offers great food, a luxury spa with sauna and Jacuzzi, a free Pisco sour-making class, and warm hand towels and hot chocolate on arrival. Superbly attentive, luxury-class service is this hotel's trademark.

Day 4: Ollantaytambo + Weaving and Puma Marca – Aguas Calientes

Your driver will pick you up at your hotel in the morning after you have breakfasted. This is a specially designed one-day "alternative" Sacred Valley tour, designed to get you well off the beaten track and to give you a glimpse into another way of life. This is also the 'authenticity' element in your Peru honeymoon tour.
We will visit the village of Rumira Sondormayo, which is one of three villages that the social enterprise Threads of Peru works with, revitalizing the community's rich weaving tradition, especially among women weavers.
The women of Rumira will prepare a weaving demonstration, during which you will learn about the shearing, weaving, and dyeing processes. These weavers use age-old techniques, passed down from generation to generation. You can learn about the native plants they use to make a range of colors, and also the pre-Inca, Inca, and more modern iconography used in their weavings. You will have the chance to purchase and take home some of their works.
After the tour we will return to Ollantaytambo for lunch in the romantically named Hearts Café, known for its delicious, healthy, whole foods.
There will be time to wander around this quaint village, with its cobblestone streets, before heading to the train station for your Machu Picchu honeymoon trip. There is something very romantic about embarking on a train journey to this mystical place.
We highly recommend allowing time for a coffee and cake at Café Mayu, situated in the train station to Machu Picchu. As you enjoy the delicious snack, you can watch trains come and go, and perhaps take some time to write in your journal or reflect upon the highlights of your honeymoon. You will board the train to Aguas Calientes, where you will spend the night. We recommend getting to bed early tonight, so you can be rested for tomorrow's climactic visit to Machu Picchu.

Overnight: Hotel in Aguas Calientes

http://www.casadelsolhotels.com/

Conveniently located with quiet, comfortable rooms, some of which boast a Jacuzzi on the terrace, Casa del Sol boutique hotel offers some of the best accommodations in Aguas Calientes. Friendly and attentive staff; picturesque river views; and welcoming décor all combine to make Casa del Sol a wonderful honeymoon hotel experience.

Day 5: Machu Picchu + lunch at Sanctuary Lodge – Cusco

You will be up before dawn to take one of the first buses up to Machu Picchu, beating the crowds and taking advantage of the opportunity to see this World Heritage site in the early morning light. What a wonderful thing to be able to tell your grandchildren- that you and your spouse had a Machu Picchu honeymoon!
For many this is the literal and symbolic high point of their Peru honeymoon in the mountains!
You will have a three-hour guided tour of the site and can climb Huayna Picchu in order to get that famous shot of Machu Picchu. (Permits need to be organized at the time of booking) Spend time exploring this amazing site, before enjoying a delicious buffet lunch at the Sanctuary Lodge located right outside the gate to Machu Picchu.
Later, you will take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes and return to Cusco via train and bus. This tour is highly recommended for those that want to experience Machu Picchu at dawn, and would like to spend some quiet, romantic time at the site. After arrival in Cusco we will transfer you to your hotel.

Overnight: Casa Cartagena

Day 6: Cusco – Puno

Train journeys are by definition romantic, and today's journey on the Andean Explorer during your Peru honeymoon in the mountains is no exception! You'll spend 10 hours on an elegant old world train crossing one of the most spectacular landscapes on earth.
After breakfast at your hotel, we will pick you up and transfer you to the train station to take the Andean Explorer train to Puno. Riding this train is a unique experience: you'll observe majestic mountains enshrouded in mist; rolling high plains, with shepherds and their flocks; thatched roof dwellings; and if you're lucky, alpaca and llama herds with adorable babies, depending on the time of year.
Note: This train journey is available Monday, Wednesday and Friday year round, and also on Saturdays during the high season. Upon arrival in Puno, you'll be transferred to your hotel.

Overnight: Hotel Libertador Esteves

http://www.libertador.com.pe/en/libertador/puno/general-information/

The Libertador Esteves is located on a private island on Lake Titicaca: astonishing views of romantic sunsets over Titicaca can be seen from any room in the hotel. There will be plenty of time to relax and enjoy one another's company during your honeymoon boat trip on Lake Titicaca. Whether nestled in the cabin or sitting on the deck soaking up the high altitude sun, this will be a very special day for you both.
Our first stop is the famous Floating Islands of Uros. Stepping onto them feels very much like walking on a waterbed, but it's quite safe. We'll see native dwellings and meet the islands' friendly inhabitants. The Uros people are descended from one of the oldest South American tribal groups. We'll visit two of the 60 islands before continuing on to Taquile Island.
After a relaxed navigation of approximately 2.5 hours, during which we'll have a chance to enjoy the spectacular views offered by Lake Titicaca, we'll arrive at Taquile Island. There, we will have the opportunity to visit a unique community. A long, gradually ascending path will take us to the village, with spectacular views along the way. After a 45-minute hike, we'll arrive at the communal weaving cooperative where high quality, handmade craft textiles are created by local artisans. Lunch will be at one of the many local restaurants. After lunch and an opportunity to look over and perhaps purchase some weavings, we'll descend 500 steps down to the main port of the island. We'll depart back to Puno at approximately 2:30 pm for the three-hour return journey. Upon arrival to Puno, we will transfer you to your hotel.
