Itinerary

Your Amazon adventure begins when we pick you up at Puerto Maldonado Airport and take you directly into the rainforest. From the airport, travel by road for approximately one hour before continuing by boat along the Tambopata River to your lodge in the heart of the reserve.

As the city and roads disappear behind you, the rainforest gradually takes over. Enjoy your first taste of Amazonian cuisine during the journey before arriving at the riverbank, where a short walk through the forest leads you to Refugio Amazonas.

Settle into your comfortable room and take some time to enjoy your surroundings. The lodge is located within a chestnut forest and offers a peaceful base for exploring the rainforest.

In the afternoon, head to the 40-meter-high Canopy Tower. After climbing the staircase to the top, enjoy panoramic views across the rainforest canopy. Keep an eye out for toucans, macaws and raptors flying above the treetops.

After dinner, join a night lecture with researchers from the Wired Amazon program to learn more about rainforest research and conservation. Depending on the evening’s activities, you may also visit the night light trap to look for insects and other fascinating nocturnal species.

Overnight at Refugio Amazonas.

Your national flight needs to arrive before 12 noon to do this program.

Enjoy an early breakfast at Refugio Amazonas before beginning your journey back to Puerto Maldonado. Travel by boat along the Tambopata River and continue by road to the city and airport.

As you leave the rainforest behind, take one last look at the landscapes and wildlife that made your Amazon adventure special, along with the memories of your time in the Tambopata National Reserve.
