"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
- Mark Twain

Adventure Travel Specialists

A brief description

Apus Peru Adventure Travel Specialists were founded in 2005 with the aim of providing benefits of tourism beyond the wealthy Cusco – Sacred Valley corridor.

Well before Apus Peru was considered (as a business), a passion for adventure and the outdoors meant that over the years we headed out of Cusco at every opportunity. Hiking and trekking is what we do in our spare time.

We first hiked the routes we offer in the spirit of discovery – and we wanted to capture this in our tours, so you too can feel the thrill of breaking new ground. Our slogan "explore places no one else goes" encapsulates our desire to offer tours that take you away from the standard routes.

That said, Peru’s most famous treks and tours are indeed great adventures, so we also offer routes like the Classic Inca Trail and Sacred Valley tours.

From the very first treks that we operated, we wanted to “give something back” and began by donating a portion of trek prices to local NGOs, later supporting the foundation of the Peruvian NGO Threads of Peru.

We were also aware of significant exploitation occurring in the Peruvian tourism industry, and immediately determined that we would not be a part of this.  Since inception, we have tried to pay above industry rates to our workers, and consider the sustainability implications of our actions.  To ensure our continued commitment, we were verified by the internationally renowned Rainforest Alliance in 2011.

We continue to be travellers, and we continue to strive to offer our clients unique, personalized itineraries that we would like to do ourselves.
