We support sustainable, responsible & ethical tourism.

A man riding on a horse, seems to be very much in a hurry. Along the way his friend asks, "Where are you going?" The man says, "I don't know, ask the horse."

Core Principles

Apus Peru Adventure Travel Specialists began as alternative trekking agency located in Cusco that has grown to offer innovative tours of Peru and beyond.

Our slogan is, “Explore places no one else goes…”   The company has the following principles at its core:

  • To provide travellers with off the beaten track and truly unique travel experiences that enable them to connect with the “real” Peru and South America, primarily through trekking but also other forms of transport.
  • Travel should be sustainable (both for the company, its workers and the environment), responsible (to the client, and the workers and the environment) and ethical.
  • Travel should give something back –$15 of each tour price is donated to community projects – www.threadsofperu.com
  • That the client is central – this is a once in a lifetime experience for every person – and we want them to realize this every step of the way with our personalized services

Our Philosophy

Like the idea of "slow food", we advocate "slow tourism" - taking time to absorb, enjoy and savour the experience.

These adventure hikes are specially designed, and many are not offered in ANY other agency in Cusco, Peru. We have designed these tours ourselves, and as such, have a real passion for the places we show you. There is much more to Peru than the Inca Trail, and though undeniably Machu Picchu is a huge highlight, other Inca ruins like Choquequirao, Espiritu Pampa or Vilcabamba are very special adventure experiences. Even if you have little time we you CAN see the real Peru and its highlights, but in a more relaxed and sensitive way!

We believe that no matter how much time you have, there is no reason that you can't get away from the crowds and off the beaten track. In doing so, you connect with the "real Peru."

In going places that other people don't, we run the risk of bringing tourism and its negative impacts to new places. This is the last thing that we want. We aim to "tread lightly and leave little trace" in both an environmental and cultural sense.

We have a strict policy of carrying our rubbish out and using environmentally friendly practices like using biodegradable washing products.
