Here at Apus Peru we often get asked how we differ than other companies.
We believe that one of the key reasons is that we do think ‘out of the square’. We like to offer our clients the chances to do things that are truly and uniquely off the beaten track. We want our clients to be able to see, experience and feel a side of the Andes that is not normally accessible to the average traveller or tourist.
Combining this ethos with our belief in environmental conservation, we also realised that people that trek and travel with Apus Peru generally like to “give back.” We know this because of our conversations with clients who sincerely and profoundly want to do more than simply come to Peru for a vacation.
Trash disposal and litter are serious environmental issues in Peru.
Hence the idea of ‘Clean Up treks’ was born. The idea is that instead of simply trekking through the countryside, the group works in small teams cleaning certain areas of trash. As a company, Apus Peru sends extra staff and mules to assist with this collection.
Those who participate in the trek get their trek at a super discounted rate, as well as Machu Picchu entry, transportation, great food and experienced guides, plus a special T-shirt to remember your trip with. This is a great opportunity for those who want short term volunteering, or a volunteer experience while not having a lot of time.
The next trek departs 9th July 2013 in the beautiful Lares region.
